A Case of Rectal Endometriosis

Abstract
|
|
|
Endometriosis is not uncommon disease ocurring I women of reproductive period as an incidence of 8~15%, however endometriosis of rectum is very rare and frequently confused with rectum cancer.
Authers experienced a case of endometeriosis of rectum with a forty-one-year old woman complainting intermittent rectal bleeding.
Radiologically there was a walnut sized mass shadow at the anterior wall of lower rectum by barium enema, CT scan and MRI.
The mass was proven as endometriosis of rectum involving muscular layer by frozen biopsy during operation and low anterior resection of rectum with total hysterectomy was performed subsequently.
The result of treatment was satisfactory except transient postopoerative dysuria and diarrhea.
A case of endometriosis of rectum with review of literature is presented
